STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg University softball team looks to repeat as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champions when it opens tournament against Kutztown University on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m., in Quakertown, Pa.

LAST MEETINGS VERSUS KUTZTOWN
The Huskies and Golden Bears last met in the 2015 regular season, when the two teams split a pair of doubleheaders. On April 12 at Kutztown, Bloomsburg won game one, 2-0, before falling by a score of 3-0 in the second contest.
Taylor Parker (Dewart, Pa./Warrior Run) tossed a complete game shutout in the win, allowing just three hits.

Five days later, the two squads met again, this time in Bloomsburg, and the Golden Bears took game one, 6-5, before the Huskies rallied in the bottom of the sixth in game two for a 7-4 win. The score was tied, 4-4, before
Anna McElroy (Jessup, Pa./Valley View) launched a three-run home run to plate Parker and Abby Remley. Earning the win with two scoreless innings of relief was Sarah Bortner.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies ended the regular season third in the PSAC with a .298 batting average and were fourth with 205 runs scored.

Sophomore
Taylor Winkelman (Springfield, Pa/Springfield) had another strong season at the plate, hitting .359 with a team-high 52 hits and 32 runs scored, to go along with 12 doubles (tied for team lead).

Additionally, senior
Taylor Parker (Dewart, Pa./Warrior Run) batted .348 with eight home runs, good for second in the conference. Parker also tallied team-high 31 runs batted in (RBI), and scored 25 runs during the regular season.

Also making contributions this season was junior
Emily Mayhew (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge), who hit .328, tied for the team lead with 12 doubles and drove in 18 runs, while senior
Holly Peacock (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) posted a mark at the plate of .308 with 11 RBI.

In the circle, Parker went 15-6 with a 1.99 ERA, and 147 strikeouts, while placing fifth the conference with a .193 opposing batting average. Her 15 wins were tied for second in the PSAC while her 43 batters struck out looking was tops of all pitchers. Over her last three starts, Parker pitched three complete games, allowing just seven hits and two earned runs while striking out 14 batters in 19 innings of work.

Senior
Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) posted an 11-8 record with a team-low 1.78 ERA in 114.1 innings of work, and threw a complete game in each of her last four starts. Tomaschik's 132 strikeouts were second on the team behind Parker, and her .197 opposing batting average is sixth-best in the PSAC.

SCOUTING KUTZTOWN
The Golden Bears come into the postseason having won five of their last six games, and are 30-13 (13-3 PSAC) overall on the year.

At the plate, Sara Keeny leads the lineup with a .419 batting average (Fifth in PSAC), to go along with 62 hits (Second in PSAC) and 40 runs scored on the year. Also, Gabby Tarelia is hitting .394 with 52 hits, team-high 14 doubles and 26 runs batted in. Cheyenne Jones leads the Golden Bears with 28 RBI and six home runs on the season, to go along with her .280 mark at the plate.

In the circle, Savannah Nierintz leads the Kutztown staff with a 21-5 record, 1.23 ERA, 22 complete games and 167 strikeouts in 193.0 innings of work this year. In her last six appearances Nierintz has pitched 31.2 innings, allowed eight earned runs and stuck out 22 batters.
