LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest at Lock Haven 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday (Sept. 13).
The teams went back and forth for the first 21 minutes, until the Eagles made a push for the BU net. Zach Hommey was taken down in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Hommey put away his third of the year in the 22
nd minute to give the Bald Eagles a 1-0 lead. That goal would stand as the only marker in the first half.
That lone goal also stood for most of the second half, before Bloomsburg was awarded a corner kick in the 86
th minute. The ball was played into the box and found the foot of
Kristopher Gross (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge). Gross deflected the ball past the keeper for his second goal of the year to tie the match at one in the final few minutes. Gross's goal forced extra time.
Lock Haven controlled possession early on in the extra session, before Beckham Sibiski sent a ball into the box for Shane Colgrove. Colgrove fired it from his position to beat Huskies keeper
Taylor Lesage (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) for his third of the year to give Lock Haven the overtime win.
Along with Gross's late goal,
Tyler Madeira (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland),
Cameron Cleary (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) and
Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) each fired two shots in the contest.
Brett Milden (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) and Sam Izzo also recorded shots. Lesage made made five saves in the match.
The Huskies continue their road trip when they travel to Gannon on Saturday (Sept. 16). Kickoff for that match is set for 1:00 p.m.
