INDIANA, Pa.- The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team dropped its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener to IUP 2-1 on Saturday (Sept. 2).
BU started off quick, with
Mackenzie Gebhardt (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) opening the scoring in the third minute, netting her second goal of the season.
The visitors held their 1-0 lead until the 26
th minute when IUP's Carly Donia knotted the game with a goal. The teams went to the break tied at one-apiece.
The teams went back and forth for the first 17 minutes of the second half, before Gianna Parlavecchio broke through and put the Crimson Hawks ahead for good.
Megan Callan (Eldersburg, Md./Century) paced the Huskies offense with three shots, putting one on goal. Gebhardt and
Lauren Hoelke (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) each registered two shots, with both of Gebhardt's and one of Hoelke's being on frame.
Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area),
Holly Norbury (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional),
Jessica Supp (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge),
Hannah Miller (El Dorado Hills, Calif./Oak Ridge) and
Natalie Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding) each registered a shot for the Huskies. BU out-shot IUP 12-4 in the match.
The Huskies return home to take on Millersville Wednesday night (Sept. 6) in their home opener. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Steph Pettit Stadium.
