BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped its second consecutive contest on Friday afternoon as visiting Seton Hill University handed the Huskies a 1-0 overtime loss at Steph Pettit Stadium in a pivotal Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match. The Huskies dropped to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in league play while the Griffins improved to 5-3-5 overall and 2-2-3 in the conference standings. It was the first overtime contest for the Huskies this season.
Just 1:26 into the overtime period, Seton Hill's Alex Dysen received a pass from John Trollsas and one-timed a shot from just inside the box past sophomore goalkeeper
Brock Gould (York, Pa./Red Lion) just inside the far post to give the visitors the victory. It was Dysen's fourth goal of the season.
Both teams had opportunities to end the match late in regulation. In the 77th minute, junior
Bawe Salehi (Alingsas, Sweden/Alstromer Gymnasiet) backed in a defender inside the box and let go of a left-footed shot that sailed high over Seton Hill goalkeeper Austin Iddon. Just moments later, the Griffins' Archie Lock received a centering pass inside the box but his one-timer whistled wide of the cage to keep the game scoreless.
Seton Hill held a 14-11 advantage in shots with the Huskies holding a slim, 3-2, edge in corner kicks. Gould dropped to 4-4 on the season as he was credited with four saves in the loss. Iddon turned aside three Bloomsburg shots as his record improved to 5-2-5 on the year.
The Huskies will get right back to work on Sunday afternoon, October 14, when they travel to East Stroudsburg University for another crucial conference matchup at Eiler-Martin Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
