HTML BOX SCORE

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Mackenzie Gebhardt (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) scored with 4:29 left in regulation to lift the 23rd-ranked Bloomsburg University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at East Stroudsburg University on Sunday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The Huskies extended their winning streak to six straight and lengthened their unbeaten streak to seven consecutive games as their record improved to 10-2-1 overall and 10-2-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. The Warriors dropped to 10-4-1 overall and 9-3-1 in league play.

More importantly, Bloomsburg clinched a spot in the conference tournament with the victory over East Stroudsburg. The Huskies also took over sole possession of first place in the league standings as they snapped a tie with the Warriors. Bloomburg now holds a one point lead over both Kutztown and Millersville with two weeks left in the regular season.

The seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1) is the longest since the 2008 squad had an eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1) from October 1 to October 29 of that season.

Gebhardt played hero for the second consecutive contest when she tapped home a centering feed from freshman Rachel Clouser (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) past East Stroudsburg goalkeeper Mauri Jackson with 4:29 left. It was the sophomore's fourth goal of the season and moved her into a tie for the team lead with senior Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area) in the goal-scoring department. Gebhardt also scored Bloomsburg's only goal in the Huskies' 1-0 home victory over Seton Hill on Friday afternoon.

Gebhardt has now scored in three consecutive games and in four of the last five contests after going scoreless in her first eight games of the year.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Hawkins (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) and the Huskies' defense clamped down on the Warriors all afternoon as they limited East Stroudsburg to just four shot attempts all afternoon, including only one in the second half. The Huskies have allowed a PSAC-low 36 shot attempts all season long followed Sunday's victory.

It was the Huskies' tenth shutout of the season in 13 matches with Hawkins picking up her PSAC-leading ninth of the year. Her nine shutouts on the year are tied for third-most in a single season in program history. Heather Hartman holds the record with 12 during the 2001 season while Tracy Wirth posted 10 during the 1998 campaign.

Hawkins needed to record only one save as her record improved to 10-2-1 on the season. She has allowed only one goal in the last 641:06 of action as she lowered her goals against average to 0.38 while increasing her save percentage to .857 on the year. Meanwhile, Jackson suffered the loss for East Stroudsburg as she was credited with three saves on the day. Her record stands at 9-2 on the year.

Bloomsburg held a 10-4 shot advantage despite East Stroudsburg getting five corner kick opportunities to Bloomsburg's two.

The Huskies will play their lone non-conference game of the season on Wednesday night, October 17, when they host Goldey-Beacom College at Steph Pettit Stadium on Senior Night. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
