BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to the 20th-ranked Golden Knights of Gannon University on Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Field House by the scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-11. The Huskies dropped to 5-20 overall and 1-14 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division while Gannon improved to 25-1 overall and 14-1 in the PSAC Northwest Division.
The Huskies led in each of the final two sets but big runs by the Golden Knights thwarted any attempt at an upset bid. Bloomsburg led as late as 12-10 in the second set before Gannon went on a 7-0 run to take a 17-12 advantage. In the third set, the Huskies jumped out to a 7-3 advantage before the Golden Knights went on a 20-2 run to put the set out of reach.

Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll Catholic) accounted for nearly half of Bloomsburg's 22 kills on the day as she finished with a team-high 10 kills to go along with nine digs. Freshman
Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) added seven kills and six digs in the loss. Freshman
Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) totaled 18 assists while sophomore
Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) led the Huskies with 11 digs on the defensive end. Freshman
Meghan Gehr (Parkesburg, Pa./Garden Spot) joined her in double figures with 10 digs on the afternoon.
Ashley McClung led Gannon with 10 kills as the Golden Knights while Ashley Kerestes added eight. Ashley Beyers posted a double-double with 25 assists and 10 digs and was joined in double figures in digs by Lydia Lukomski (11) and Kenzie Lasher (10).
Bloomsburg will play its final road contest of the 2018 season on Tuesday, October 30, when it heads to Lock Haven for a rematch against the Bald Eagles. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
