SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday afternoon as the Huskies dropped a 2-1 decision at Shippensburg University. Bloomsburg, ranked tenth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Regional poll, dropped to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) standings while the Raiders, who entered the match ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region, improved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in league play.

Things started fast and furious, offensively, as the match was tied at 1-1 less than eight minutes in. Shippensburg dented the scoreboard first when Cole Kropnick scored his PSAC-leading tenth goal of the season in the sixth minute to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage. Devlin Mettee was credited with the assist. But, exactly one minute later, sophomore Thomas King (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) tied the match at 1-1 with his second goal of the season off of an assist from sophomore Carter Luckenbaugh (York, Pa./Central York). It was King's first goal, and first point, since scoring a goal and an assist in the season-opening victory at Shepherd on August 30. Luckenbaugh, meanwhile, took over the team lead in assists with three. He led the PSAC with 11 assists during his freshman season a year ago.

The offense settled down from that point and the teams went to intermission tied at 1-1. Shots in the opening half were even at five apiece.

Just three minutes into the second half, the Raiders regained their one-goal lead when Patrick Luebben scored his fifth goal of the season off of an assist from Kropnick. The Huskies could only muster three shot attempts in the second half with the only shot on goal coming from redshirt sophomore Luis Partida (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) that was stopped by Shippensburg goalkeeper Garret Watson in the 68th minute.

Sophomore Brock Gould (York, Pa./Red Lion) saw his three-game winning streak come to an end as he allowed two goals while making two saves to fall to 3-2 on the year. Watson turned aside two Bloomsburg shots to improve to 8-2 on the year.

The Raiders held a 13-8 advantage in shots and posted a significant, 8-1, edge in corner kicks.

Bloomsburg will return to action on Saturday, October 6, when they play host to Slippery Rock University during Homecoming Weekend at Steph Pettit Stadium. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
