STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg University women's volleyball team will be looking to win its first conference matches over the weekend as the Huskies play Kutztown University on Friday night and then East Stroudsburg University on Saturday night at the Nelson Field House. Both the Huskies and the Golden Bears are mired in seven-match losing streaks entering the weekend. Bloomsburg is 4-12 overall and 0-7 in league play while Kutztown is 6-10 on the season with an identical 0-7 mark in conference action. The Warriors, who play at Lock Haven on Friday night, entered the weekend with a one-match lead over West Chester in the PSAC Southeast Division. East Stroudsburg has won six of its last seven matches.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg enters the weekend with seven consecutive losses to drop it to 4-12 overall and 0-7 in the PSAC Central. The Huskies last played on Tuesday night when they suffered a four-set loss against Lock Haven in the first inter-divisional match of the year.
Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll Catholic) and
Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) led the way with 11 kills apiece while
Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) tied a career-high with 25 assists.
Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) posted 34 digs while Gomish chipped in with 18. The Huskies come in ranked third in the PSAC in digs per set (18.94) and eighth in service aces per set (1.62). Bloomsburg, however, is 15th in the league in hitting percentage (.120) and is allowing opponents to hit .201 on the year - tied for 14th in the conference. Gomish leads the team in kills with 197 and ranks second on the team in digs with 167. She is fourth in the league in kills per set (3.79) and is eighth in the PSAC in points per set (3.98). She recorded the 1,000th kill of her collegiate career at California on September 15 and is 76 digs away from reaching the same milestone in that category.
Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) ranks second on the team with 126 kills and third in digs with 129.
Emma Van Arsdale (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and
Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) have split time as the team's setter recently. Van Arsdale leads with 383 assists and ranks third in the PSAC in service aces per set (0.52). Stek has led the Huskies in assists in each of the last four matches and has 106 on the season (4.61 per set). Defensively,
Mia Nicholes (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) leads the team with 21 total blocks while Giza is also in double figures with 14. Cianciulli is tops on the squad with 369 digs. She averages 6.96 digs per set - second in the conference.

SCOUTING KUTZTOWN
Like Bloomsburg, the Golden Bears enter the weekend on a seven-match losing streak and are 6-10 overall and 0-7 in the PSAC Southeast. Kutztown, most recently, lost in four sets to East Stroudsburg on Tuesday night. The Golden Bears are good at the net as they rank fifth in the PSAC in blocks per set (1.87). Kutztown, however, is 15th in the league in both kills per set (10.89) and assists per set (9.85). Holly Owen leads the Golden Bears with 206 kills on the season and ranks fifth in the league in kills per set (3.75). Brittney Moyer has also hit triple digits as she has posted 150 kills on the year. Amanda Meck and Abbey James have split time at setter. Meck leads with 199 total assists (3.62 per set) while James has 196 (4.78 per set). Sydney Wilson has a team-high 297 digs and is fourth in the PSAC in digs per set (5.40). Niki Carpenter is tops on the team with 49 blocks and ranks fifth in the conference in blocks per set (1.09).
SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURG
East Stroudsburg, which plays at Lock Haven on Friday night, is 16-3 overall and 6-1 in the PSAC Southeast. The Warriors are one of the top defensive teams in the conference as they rank second in the league in opponent hitting percentage (.102) and first in blocks per set (2.78). East Stroudsburg is also eighth in the league in digs per set (16.70). Offensively, Sarah Smith is one of the top players in the PSAC as she has a team-high 271 kills while ranking third in digs (211) and sixth in blocks (38). She leads the league in kills per set (4.11) and in points per set (4.72). Tina Predojevic is the setter and she has 677 assists this season. She is fifth in the PSAC in assists per set (10.26). At the net, Jasmine Williams (1.52) and Trea-sure Ketter (1.26) ranks first and second in the PSAC in blocks per set. Emily Meredith leads in digs with 304.
UP NEXT
The Huskies will be on the road next Friday, October 12, and Saturday, October 13, when they head to Shippensburg and Pitt-Johnstown, respectively. Friday's contest starts at 7:00 p.m. while Saturday's matchup begins at 1:00 p.m.
