STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team will play its first dual matches of the season when it heads west to meet Seton Hill on Friday and then IUP and Clarion on Saturday. Seton Hill is 2-2 on the season while both IUP and Clarion will play their first duals of the season this weekend.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg opened the year with a pair of tournaments as it hosted the Bloomsburg Women's Invitational on September 22 and September 23, before serving as host of the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships last weekend. Junior Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) leads the Huskies with a 4-1 record in singles play. Last weekend, Capoferri advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Millersville's Jasmine Morris in the opening round of the PSAC Singles Championship. However, Capoferri was ousted from the tournament by California's Jo Weisen in straight sets for her first loss of the season. Junior Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) and sophomores Giovanna Bonito (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Reino) and Haille Hoeflein (Easton, Pa./Easton) have each contributed three wins over the course of the first two weekends. In doubles, Calimer and junior Vitoria Nery (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Educandário Santa Maria Goretti) lead the Huskies with a 3-1 record. The duo advanced to the quarterfinals last weekend at the PSAC Championships before dropping an 8-4 decision to IUP's team of Julia Newman and Katya Minchenkova. Bonito and Capoferri are 2-1 in doubles while seniors Siena Cerra (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and Cassie Wentz (Windber, Pa./Winber Area) went 1-0 during the opening weekend of the season.

SCOUTING SETON HILL
Seton Hill is 2-2 overall on the season with wins over St. Vincent and Daemen. Last weekend at the PSAC Individual Championships, Kaelyn Zak and Jenna Bailey teamed up for the Griffins as their doubles team for the tournament.  Zak and Bailey opened the tournament with an 8-4 win over Katina Jones and Jasmine Morris of Millersville.  The team then dropped their quarterfinal match to the seeded doubles team of Kayla Frost and Sangeeta Roopan, from Mercyhurst, by the score of 8-3. In singles competition, Cameron Beer dropped her first round match to Carolin Ganahi of California (PA) by the score of 6-2, 6-2. Bailey lost in three sets to Viola Lugmayr of Slippery Rock by a 7-6 (4), 0-6, 8-10 score.

SCOUTING IUP
The Crimson Hawks will play their first duals of the season this weekend after opening with four tournaments. Julia Newman leads IUP with a 10-5 record in singles play. She advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Atlantic Regional tournament in Erie before being ousted by Charleston's Katie Swann. Last weekend, Newman lost to teammate Katya Minchenkova in the semifinals. Minchenkova, who is 7-5 on the year, lost to Slippery Rock's Lacey Cohen for the PSAC singles title. Mariana Valenzuela is 9-3 on the campaign after going 4-1 at the ITA Atlantic Regional tournament with her only loss coming in the B finals against Mercyhurst's Athina Tsagkarski. In doubles, Valenzuela and Maria Magraner are 6-1 to start the season with an ITA Championship after winning the B finals by a score of 8-3 over Bluefield State's Eva Garcia and Sophie Bygrave.

SCOUTING CLARION
Clarion will also play its first duals of the year and, to date, only competed at the PSAC Individual Championships last weekend. Alivia Arnold and Vinisha Reddy each lost their opening singles match and then teamed up for an opening-round setback in doubles action.
