GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team posted a season-opening 5-2 victory at Seton Hill University on Friday afternoon at Latrobe High School in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover match. The Griffins dropped to 2-3 on the year.

The Huskies took two of the three doubles matches to earn the point in the team scoring. Seniors Cassie Wentz (Windber, Pa./Winber Area) and Siena Cerra (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) teamed up for a 6-3 victory over Kaitlyn Walch and Marlayna Verenna at #3 doubles and junior Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) paired with sophomore Isabella Sarquis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Metodo) for the doubles-clinching 7-6 (7-1) win over Cameron Beer and Ana Salazar at #2.

Cerra got the Huskies on the board in singles after posting a 6-2, 6-4 win over Immanuella Odiong at #6 to give Bloomsburg a 2-1 lead. Wentz knocked off Salazar, 7-5, 6-0, at #4 and Sarquis finished off the match with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at #5 over Walch.

Bloomsburg's other singles victory came from Calimer who defeated Kaelyn Zak - 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 10-2 - at #2.

The Huskies will play a pair of matches on Saturday as they head to IUP to play the Crimson Hawks at 10:00 a.m. followed by a match with the Golden Eagles of Clarion at 3:00 p.m.
