Women's Basketball Battles At Division I Buffalo Thursday Night In Exhibition Contest

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team played its final exhibition game of the season on Thursday night and dropped a 94-53 decision at Division I Buffalo at the Alumni Arena.

The Huskies had two players in double figures on Thursday night as senior Marissa Molnar (Erie, Pa./McDowell) paced the team with 13 points while also tying for the team-high with five rebounds. Molnar finished 5-of-12 from the field and was 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Junior Bella Ricci (Etters, Pa./Red Land) also hit double digits as she scored 11 points on 4-of-13 from the field and 2-of-6 from long range. The duo combined to hit all five of the Huskies' triples on the night.

Senior Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) added nine points while junior Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) and sophomore Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) chipped in with seven points each.

The Bulls got a monster performance from Cierra Dillard who finished with 27 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in just 21 minutes of action. She was 11-of-14 from the field and 5-of-6 from long distance. Brittany Morrison added 14 points while Oceane Kounkou was also in double figures with 12.

Bloomsburg trailed just 36-22 at the break but allowed 58 points in the second half as Buffalo shot 22-of-38 (57.9%) from the field over the final 20 minutes. The Bulls held a 55-27 edge on the glass and forced the Huskies into 24 turnovers - 20 of which came on Buffalo steals.

The Huskies shot 18-of-53 (34.0%) from the field, 5-of-18 (27.8%) from three-point range, and 12-of-17 (70.6%) from the foul line en route to their 53 points.

Bloomsburg will open up the 2018-19 regular season on Friday, November 9, and Saturday, November 10, when it heads to Kutztown University to compete in the Conference Challenge. Bloomsburg will play Fayetteville State on Friday evening before playing Lincoln University on Saturday afternoon.
