BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team extended their winning streak to six matches and kept their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East division record spotless with a 9-0 win over Kutztown on Tuesday (Apr. 10) at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
The Huskies swept all nine matches winning three doubles contests and six singles bouts.
Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) and
Isabella Sarquis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Metodo) won by default over Kara Urland and Taylor Capoferri at No. 1 doubles 7-4, before
Giovanna Bonito (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Reino) and
Catherine Garrity (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) won 8-6 at No. 2 over Alicia Pursell and Yasmeen Malik.
Chloe Berridge (York, Pa./Dallastown) and Sienna Cerra completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 3 over Shadimon Navarro and Mackenzie Delp.
Calimer started singles play with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 win over Capoferri at No. 1, before reigining PSAC East Athlete of the Week Bonito defeated Malik 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. Sarquiz swept Pursell at No. 3 in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, while Berridge beat Delp by an identical 6-0, 6-1 score at No. 4. Wentz defeated Elyssa Tomczyk 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5, before Garrity shut out Navarro 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Huskies move their record to 7-5 and 5-0 in the PSAC East, while Kutztown is now 2-11 and 1-3 in the division.
BU is back on the courts on Friday (Apr. 13) to take on Jefferson in a non-conference contest. The action begins at 4:00 p.m. at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
