WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision at West Chester University on Friday night, falling by the scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-17. The Huskies have now dropped five straight matches as they fell to 4-10 overall and 0-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to 15-1 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC Southeast Division.

Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll Catholic) and freshman
Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) led the Huskies with 10 kills apiece as the duo combined for 20 of the team's 29 kills. Freshmen
Emma Van Arsdale (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington),
Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West), and
Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) were next on the team with two kills. Stek added a career-high 12 assists while Van Arsdale chipped in with nine. Defensively, sophomore
Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) posted a team-high 16 digs while Gomish and freshman
Noelle Chavey (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) each had an assisted block.
The first set was close early before the Golden Rams built up a 14-7 lead, going on an 8-2 run after holding just a 6-5 advantage. Following a Bloomsburg timeout, the Huskies rattled off three straight points thanks to three consecutive West Chester miscues. Bloomsburg continued to inch closer, cutting the Golden Rams' lead to 17-14 after a kill from Gomish and a West Chester hitting error. But, the Golden Rams scored five of the next six points of the set to take a 22-15 lead and never looked back.
Things again were tight at the outset of the second set as the teams went back-and-forth through the first 19 points. With West Chester leading 10-9, the Golden Rams began to pull away by scoring the next four points to build up a 14-9 advantage. Bloomsburg trimmed the lead to 15-12 on kills from Gomish, Stek, and Giza before scored the next three points to extend the lead to 18-12. The Huskies got as close as five down the stretch but could get no closer as the Golden Rams won the second set, 25-17.
Bloomsburg hung with West Chester in the third as the Golden Rams held only a one-point lead, 14-13, after a kill from Mooney. However, the Huskies managed to score only four points the rest of the set as they were outscored 11-4 down the stretch. Three kills from Gomish and one from freshman
Mia Nicholes (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) accounted for the four Huskies' points over that period of time.
The Huskies had no answer for West Chester's duo of Julia Vreeswyk and Grace Whitney as the pair combined for 25 kills and zero errors in 47 attacks (.532 hitting percentage). Vreeswyk led with 14 kills while Whitney had 11. Rachel Robb chipped in with nine. Jillian Grammer had a team-high 23 assists while Nicki Yates posted 17 digs to lead in that department.
Bloomsburg hit .155 for the match which included a .255 clip in the third and final set. Meanwhile, West Chester hit .346 for the match - .379 in the second set and .462 in the third set.
The Huskies will head to Millersville on Saturday afternoon for a match against the Marauders. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
