STORYLINE
Bloomsburg will be looking to make it three consecutive victories to start the 2018 season when it hosts winless Jefferson University on Wednesday night at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Huskies have not allowed a goal through the first two matches while the Rams have been outscored, 6-1, in their opening two contests.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Huskies have never beaten the Rams (formerly Philadelphia University) in three previous tries. Last season, Bloomsburg dropped a 5-1 decision at Jefferson as Brian Kilcoyne (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) scored the lone Huskies' goal off an assist from Carter Luckenbaugh (York, Pa./Central York).

IN THE RANKINGS
Bloomsburg is ranked 23rd in the country according to the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II national poll released on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies are the only team from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) ranked in the top 25 in this week's poll. The Huskies also find themselves third in the Atlantic Regional rankings, trailing only Notre Dame College and the University of Charleston in the regional poll. Lynn University earned the top spot in the national rankings while Midwestern State University jumped three spots from fifth to second. Ohio Valley University, Simon Fraser University, and Young Harris College rounded out the top five.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies, under first-year head coach Danny Wheelan, rattled off back-to-back shutouts against Shepherd University and Bloomfield College last week to start the season with a 2-0 record. Last Thursday, the Huskies blanked Shepherd on the road by a 2-0 final, getting goals from sophomore Thomas King (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) and junior Matt Goodall (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) in the victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Trey Orner (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) made three saves to post his first shutout in a Huskies' uniform. Then, on Saturday, Bloomsburg got a second-half goal from senior Kevin Rodriguez (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and Orner collected five more saves in a 1-0 win over the Bears at Steph Pettit Stadium. Orner was named the PSAC Co-Athlete of the Week earlier on Tuesday with his back-to-back shutouts totaling eight saves in the two victories. Through the opening week of the season, Orner is tied for the conference lead in goals against average, save percentage, and shutouts while ranking tied for fourth in saves per game. Offensively, six different Huskies have registered at least one point with King leading the way with a goal and an assist for three points. Rodriguez and Goodall are tied for second with two points apiece (one goal each) while junior Mike Bazadona III (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and sophomores Lael Cherry (Gros Islet, St. Lucia/Castries Comprehensive) and Carter Luckenbaugh (York, Pa./Central York) have chipped in an assist each.

SCOUTING JEFFERSON
The Rams are off to an 0-2 start after posting a 15-5-1 and advancing to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) title game a season ago. Jefferson suffered a season-opening 1-0 loss at West Chester last Thursday and then dropped a 5-1 decision at Le Moyne on Sunday. Ian Lake scored the lone goal for the Rams in the loss to Le Moyne and currently has the only goal and only points on the year. Jefferson has been outshot, 23-9, through its first two contests of the season. Freshman Andrew Menjivar has started both games in goal and is 0-2 with a 3.00 goals against average and a .500 save percentage.
