GREENSBURG, Pa. - After winning the first two sets, the Bloomsburg women's volleyball team was unable to close out the match and Seton Hill won three-straight sets for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win, 3-2, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies fell to 6-13 for the year and 1-6 in the PSAC while the Griffins improved to 7-7 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. Â

Bloomsburg won 25-23 and 25-22 in the first two sets before the Griffins forced a fourth set with a 25-12 win in the third. Seton Hill won the fourth 25-8 and 15-7 in the deciding fifth set. Â

Seton Hill came out quick in the first set, taking a 4-1 lead but the Huskies cut the lead to 4-3 before eventually tying the set at 7-7 behind a kill from Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II). The Griffins retook the lead, 10-8, but back-to-back kills from Mooney and Giza quickly tied the set again at 10-10. The Huskies kept the set close before taking the lead for the first time at 17-16 on an ace from Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin). Mooney pushed the lead to 18-16 with another kill. Seton Hill climbed back and tied the match at 20-20 and took a 21-20 lead and a 23-22 lead before Giza tied the match at 23-23 with a kill and earned the Huskies' first set point with an ace.
Olivia Pagano (Galeton, Pa./Galeton Area) finished out the set with a kill to give Bloomsburg the 25-23 win. Â

The Huskies used their momentum from the end of the first set to work a 7-1 lead in the beginning of the second set. The Griffins climbed their way back, however, as they rattled off six-straight points to tie the set at 10-10. Mooney kicked off a 4-0 run for the Huskies with yet another kill as Bloomsburg worked a 14-10 lead. After the Huskies pushed their lead to 17-12, the Griffins used another 6-0 run, this time to take the lead, 18-17. Bloomsburg got the lead back at 19-18 and again at 21-19 before Seton Hill tied the set at 21-21. The Huskies earned their first set point thanks to a block from Mia Nicholes (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Pagano that capped a 3-0 run. Mooney's kill ended the set at 25-22 in favor of Bloomsburg for the 2-0 lead in the match. Â

Seton Hill rebounded in the third set and worked a 5-1 lead to open play. The Huskies got a point back on a service error, but Seton HIll controlled the play with four different runs of at least three unanswered points. Bloomsburg had its own 3-0 run behind a pair of kills from Sydney Buell (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) and a Julia Burcin (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) service ace. Seton Hill closed out the set with a 3-1 run to win 25-12 and force a fourth game. Â

The Griffins ran away with the fourth set as they opened the game with a 7-0 run. Bloomsburg got a pair of points back but couldn't put together more than a two-point run and Seton Hill sealed the fourth set win with a 5-0 run to win 25-8. Â

In the fifth and deciding set, Seton Hill rattled off nine-straight points to lead 9-0 after the team's switched sides. A Buell kill got the Huskies on the board but once again they struggled putting together a run and Seton Hill ultimately won 15-7 to complete the comeback. Â

Giza led the Huskies with 11 kills in the match while Mooney finished with nine kills and 13 digs. Stek turned in a career-performance with 22 digs and 18 assists for her fourth double-double of the season. Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) led the Huskies with 24 digs while Buell chipped in 12 assists. Â

The Huskies continue their road trip as they travel to Lock Haven on Tuesday, October 15 for a 7:00 p.m. PSAC contest in Lock Haven, Pa. The Bald Eagles enter the contest 6-11 and 0-7 in the PSAC after dropping a 3-0 match to Cal U on Saturday.Â
