Hawkins Tied Career Shutout Record; Huskies Roll Past Lock Haven 3-0

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Redshirt junior Jenna Hawkins (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) tied Bloomsburg University's career shutout record as she led the seventh ranked Huskies to 3-0 win over Lock Haven in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies have won 12-straight games, including three-straight shutouts. With the win, Bloomsburg improved to 14-1 on the year and 12-1 in the conference. Lock Haven fell to 2-9-2 on the year and 2-9-1 in the PSAC East.

Hawkins improved to 14-1 on the season and recorded her eighth solo shutout to push her career total for the Huskies to 27. She is now tied with Amy Linn (1992-95) on Bloomsburg's all-time list for career shutouts. Hawkins career has been nothing short of impressive in her three years as a Huskie as she currently has a 0.69 GAA for her career and has allowed just 38 goals in her 55 games donning the Maroon and Gold.

The Huskies defense worked hard in front of Hawkins all night as they allowed the Bald Eagles to get just five shots off in the 90 minutes, two of which were on target. Both shots on goal, that Hawkins stopped, were taken in the second half.

Junior Lauren Hoelke (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) is putting together an impressive junior campaign for herself as she added two more goals tonight and an assist for the Huskies. She now has 10 goals for the season and eight assists. Hoelke started the scoring in the 36th minute for Bloomsburg as she buried her ninth goal of the year, a penalty kick, to give BU a 1-0 lead. Hoelke has converted all four penalty kicks she has taken this season.

Just 1:24 after Hoelke's goal, freshman Abby Groff (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) scored her third goal in as many games to give the Huskies a 2-0 advantage late in the first half. Hoelke crossed the ball in for Groff and she collected it as it bounced in the box and finished it for her third career goal.

Shortly after coming back from the break, Hoelke netted her 10th goal of the season in the 51st minute. Senior Megan Callen crossed the ball into the box for Hoelke who was able to power it past the goalie as the ball deflected off of a Lock Haven defender.

Shortly before Hoelke's second goal of the game, Lock Haven had its first shot at the goal but Hawkins made the save. In the 74th minute, the Bald Eagles once again tested Hawkins but were unsuccessful in trying to get on the board.

Callan got the final shot of the game off in the 81st minute but was turned away but the Lock Haven netminder, Karly Trillhaase and the ended 3-0 in favor of the Huskies.

The Huskies out-shot the Bald Eagles 16-5 for the night, including an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Lock Haven held a slight 3-2 lead in corner kicks.

Hawkins got the win for the Huskies and Trillhaase took the loss for the Bald Eagles in net as she fell to 2-9-2 on the year.

#7 Bloomsburg returns home on Wednesday as the Huskies welcome Kutztown University to Steph Pettit Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. PSAC East contest. The Golden Bears enter the game with an 8-6 overall record and a 6-6 slate in conference play after defeating Shippensburg 4-0 Saturday evening.
