MANSFIELD, Pa. – With less than four minutes to play in regulation, the #10 Mansfield University field hockey team broke the 3-3 tie to halt Bloomsburg University's come back effort as the Mounties defeated the Huskies 4-3 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest, Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies dropped to 6-11 for the year and 3-6 in the PSAC while Mansfield improved to 12-5 and 6-3 in conference.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Huskies did not retreat and came out of the intermission quickly. Senior
Willow Perkins (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) got a shot off in the first three minutes of action but was turned away by the Mansfield goalie, Brittany Ryan. The save deflected back into the field of play and Perkins corralled the loose ball. She played it off of a deflection and shot it past the keeper's rightside to cut the lead down to 2-1.

Dana Evans quickly responded as the Mounties were awarded a penalty stroke and Evans connected for her 19
th tally of the year.

Once again trailing by two goals, Bloomsburg battled back and were award a penalty corner with just under two minutes to play. Senior
Tesa Hoffman (Freeburg, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) took the first shot after the corner but her attempt was blocked by the Mountie defense before sophomore
Kristen Robinson (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) played the ball off of a deflection by the keeper and hit a hard shot past Ryan to trim the lead to 3-2 at the end of the third quarter.

 Just 2:38 into action in the fourth quarter, the Huskies were awarded a penalty stroke of their own. Robinson was able to get it back Ryan in cage and tie the game at 3-3.

The Mounties controlled possession for the next 10 minutes and took a pair of shots that were blocked and went wide. As time was winding down, Olivia Wagner accepted a pass from Evans and beat the Huskies keeper, sophomore
Hannah Barnard (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) to her left for what turned out to be the game-winning goal at the 55:16 mark.

Mansfield hung on and avoided a late push by the Huskies and did not allow Bloomsburg to get a shot off in the final four minutes to win 4-3.

After a scoreless first quarter, Evans got Mansfield on the board early in the second with her 17th goal of the year as she took it to the cage herself. Evans extended the lead to 2-0 with 5:44 to play before halftime as she got an assist from Saramae Radel at the top of the circle and went to the left.

Barnard played all 60 minutes in cage for the Huskies as she made a pair of saves and fell to 3-4 on the year. Ryan made three saves for the win for Mansfield and improved to 12-5 on the season.

Mansfield held a slight advantage in shots (12-10) and penalty corners (9-6).

The Huskies return home on Saturday as they host Mercyhurst University for their Senior Day game and final game of the regular season at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Lakers are currently 3-13 on the year and 1-7 in conference play. Game time is slated for 12:00 p.m.
