BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The sixth-ranked Bloomsburg University women's soccer team locked up the No. 1 seed for the East in the upcoming Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament with a 2-0 shutout of Millersville in the season finale, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies improved to 16-1-1 on the year and 14-1-1 in PSAC East action while the Marauders fell to 14-3-1 for the season and 12-3-1 in conference play.
The Huskies have secured the top seed in the east division and will host the No. 4 seeded West Chester next Tuesday at Steph Pettit Stadium. Bloomsburg is 1-0-1 against the Golden Rams this season.
The shutout this afternoon marked the sixth-straight shutout for redshirt junior
Jenna Hawkins (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) and the Huskies defense. Bloomsburg has posted 605:26 minutes of scoreless soccer since September 18 when Shippensburg scored late in the first half.
The Huskies tested the Millersville back line early as they were awarded a corner kick just over eight minutes into the half. Junior
Mackenzie Gebhardt (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) took a shot off the corner but was blocked by the Marauders defender. The Husky offense then put three more shots on net but were turned away by the Millersville goalie, Reagan Kolinski.

Megan Callan (Eldersburg, Md./Century) broke the scoreless tie with her third goal of the year. Junior
Lauren Hoelke (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) passed the ball down to Callan who was positioned perfectly in the top right corner of the 18-yard box. Callan slid the ball is the far-right corner as the Millersville goalie dove to her right for the score.
The 1-0 advantage held for the remainder of the half as both shots by the Huskies in the final 17 minutes were on target but stopped by Reagan.
The Huskies continued to pressure the Millersville backline as the second half started as the Huskies were awarded a corner kick just eight minutes into play. The corner kick bounced around in the box Bloomsburg couldn't get a shot off. The Huskies kept the ball in their attacking zone and Gebhardt curled a ball into the back of the net from outside the 18-yard box.
The Millersville offense had a late game push as they put a couple of shots on net in the final four minutes of play. Both shots were stopped by Hawkins, including one with less than two minutes to play to seal the 2-0 win.
The Huskies out-shot the Marauders 15-6, including 7-5 on goal. Bloomsburg held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks as well.
Hawkins improved to 16-1-1 on the year with five saves in 90 minutes while Reagan made five saves in the loss for Millersville.
The #6 Huskies return to action on Tuesday for first round of the PSAC tournament. Bloomsburg will host the fourth-seeded West Chester at 5:00 p.m. at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Golden Rams are coming off a 2-1 loss to Kutztown in the regular season finale.
