STORYLINE
The #6 Bloomsburg University women's soccer team claimed the top seed in the Atlantic Region and defeated Millersville 4-0 in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship on November 23. The Huskies now face West Chester in the round of 16 and the Atlantic Region Final. WCU defeated Slippery Rock, 4-2, to advance in the tournament. The Huskies and Golden Rams will face off at 10:00 a.m. at the College of Saint Rose's Plumeri Sports Complex in Albany, N.Y.

The Golden Rams lead the all-time series 22-15-5 after the two teams saw each other three times already this season. The season-series is tied 1-1-1. In the most recent meeting, West Chester found the back of the net with 35 seconds left in double overtime to defeat Bloomsburg 2-1 in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament. Megan Callan (Eldersburg, Md./Century) tied it for the Huskies just 2:13 into the second half after West Chester took an early 1-0 lead. Bloomsburg won the first meeting between the two teams in 2019 2-0 while the Huskies and Golden Rams played to a 0-0 double overtime draw in the final regular season game between Bloomsburg and West Chester.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies came one game closer to their regular season wins record with the 4-0 win over Millersville to open the NCAA tournament on November 23 and are now 17-2-1 for the season. Leading the Husky offense this year is juniorÂ
Lauren Hoelke with 12 goals and 10 assists in 20 games while sophomoreÂ
Nicole Varano has nine goals and four assists this year. Five of Varano's goals have gone for the game-winner. As a team, 14 Huskies have found the back of the net this year while 17 have registered at least one point. Bloomsburg has out-scored its opponents 51-7 on the year and out-shot them 395-166. The Bloomsburg defense has been one of the best in the country with a .34 goals against average, second in the nation. Leading that defense has been redshirt juniorÂ
Jenna Hawkins. Hawkins has started and played in every game for the Huskies in goal and has an impressive 0.35 GAA for the season, third lowest in NCAA DII. Earlier this season, Hawkins became the all-time shutout leader at Bloomsburg with 31 after posting 12 so far this season.
SCOUTING WEST CHESTER
West Chester earned a spot in the round of 16 after defeating the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region, Slippery Rock, 4-2, in Slippery Rock, Pa. The Golden Rams earned the No. 6 seed in the region after going 14-5-2 for the year. Hannah Zach leads the West Chester offense with 13 goals and a pair of assists this season, including a pair of goals and an assist in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament. Dani Cady leads the team with five assists to go with a pair of goals this year. The Golden Rams have out-scored opponents 46-21 this year and hold a 408-143 advantage in shots. WCU is 0-2 on penalty kick attempts while opponents are 2-2. In goal, Brooke Myers has started 15 games for the Golden Rams and sports a 1.02 goals against average. Myers has a 0.712 save percentage and has posted four solo shutouts. Hayley McGee has started the last four games in net for West Chester and has a 0.80 GAA for the season. In the last four games, McGee has allowed just four goals and has made 16 saves.

UP NEXT
The winner of Friday's match will advance to Sunday to play for a chance to advance to the National semifinal matches on Thursday, December 12 at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa. The winner of the Bloomsburg/West Chester match will play the winner of the Saint Rose/Molloy game that will be held later on Friday. St. Rose comes in as the top seed in the East region while Molloy is the No. 3 seed in the region. Sunday's game will be held at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of the College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. The National Championship match is scheduled for Saturday, December 14, at Highmark Stadium.
