THE STORY
• The Huskies will look to bounce back from a tough road loss with a win at Lock Haven Saturday afternoon. Bloomsburg is now tied with Kutztown atop the PSAC East after a 70-65 road loss to the Golden Bears Wednesday night. The Huskies enter the contest at 15-7 overall, 9-7 in the PSAC, and can clinch a berth in the PSAC Tournament with a win Saturday.
THE HISTORY: BLOOMSBURG vs. LOCK HAVEN
• Bloomsburg leads the all-time series with Lock Haven, 30-19, including a 77-58 home victory over the Bald Eagles on January 2.
Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) tallied 28 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-13 shooting in the win. The teams split a pair of meetings in 2017-18, with Bloomsburg's last win at Lock Haven coming on January 25, 2017.
LAST TIME OUT
• Bloomsburg would limit the Golden Bears to just 22 first half points on 8-of-22 shooting, but Kutztown shot 60.7% from the floor and outscored the Huskies 48-33 in the second half en route to a 70-65 win Wednesday night. Montana posted 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while
Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) tallied 13 points in the loss.
THE HUSKIES AT A GLANCE
• Montana continued her hot start to the month of February by stuffing the stat sheet with 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists Wednesday. The reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week has posted double figures scoring in eight consecutive games, and had a career-high 28 points in the Huskies win over Lock Haven back on January 2. Montana is second on the team in scoring (13.0), and ranks 10th in the PSAC in rebounding (7.5) and sixth in blocked shots (24).
• Saxton was excellent for the Huskies once again Wednesday, notching 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting. The sophomore leads the team in scoring this season at 13.4 points per game, and is second in rebounding at 4.9 per game. Saxton is shooting a blistering 59.0% from the field, which ranks third in the PSAC, and 16th in all of Division II. Her streak of double-figures scoring has now reached 15 games, including 15 points against Lock Haven on January 2.
•
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) continued to add to her stellar career numbers at Bloomsburg with eight points and a pair of made three's Wednesday. The senior is 22nd on the Bloomsburg all-time scoring list (1,051 career points), and is just four three-pointers away from passing Jen German (158) for sixth place on the school's career made three's list. Mack leads the team in three-point percentage (37.5%) this season, and ranks second in the PSAC in free throw percentage (85.4%).
• The Huskies defense continues to stifle opponents this season, ranking second in the PSAC in opponent field goal percentage (38.2%) and fourth in three-point percentage defense (28.6%). Bloomsburg allows just 62.2 points per game, which ranks third in the conference, and are fifth in the PSAC in scoring margin (+4.2).
SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN
• The Bald Eagles enter Saturday's contest in fifth place in the PSAC East with a conference record of 6-8, and 11-10 overall. Lock Haven's defense was magnificent in a 64-27 win over Mansfield Wednesday night. Lock Haven held the Mountaineers to just 17.3% shooting from the field and 15.8% from deep. The Bald Eagles also forced 19 Mansfield turnovers. Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh was the high scorer for Lock Haven, notching 13 points.
• Ahnera Parker is the Bald Eagles' leading scorer this season, posting 13.8 per game. The sophomore has scored in double figures in seven of her last eight games, and is shooting a sterling 66.7% from the floor on the year. Parker scored eight points in just 16 minutes of action in Lock Haven's loss to Bloomsburg earlier this season.
• Junior Rileigh Devine chips in 13.0 points per game, while Taylor Leidy adds 10.0 points and a team-high 3.8 assists per contest. Bink Redman leads the team in rebounding (7.7 per game), and total steals (26), while Parker and Tiana Garvin have each blocked a team-high nine shots.
• Lock Haven ranks sixth in the PSAC in scoring offense this season, tallying 69.9 points per game. The Bald Eagles shoot just 39.6% from the field and 30.9% from three-point territory, but are excellent on the glass as a team, ranking third in the conference in rebounding margin at +5.1. Lock Haven has struggled with turnovers this season, ranking 13th in the PSAC in turnover margin (-1.5).
• With the victory on Wednesday, Lock Haven head coach Jenner Smith now has 99 career wins at Lock Haven, and will look to reach the century mark against the Huskies Saturday. Smith is in her 12th season at the helm for the Bald Eagles.
UP NEXT
• The Huskies return home next Wednesday, February 13, to host Cheyney in non-conference action. Bloomsburg will then hit the road for a pair of PSAC East contests at Millersville and East Stroudsburg, before wrapping up the regular season with back-to-back home games against Mansfield and Shippensburg. Tip-off with the Wolves is slated for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
