HTML BOX SCORE

LOCK HAVEN, PA - Sekou Fofana (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic) scored a team-high 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team came up just short in a 78-75 loss to Lock Haven Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies fall to 5-16 overall, 2-16 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East.

Trailing by seven with 1:51 to play in the second half, the Huskies would pour in a pair of three-pointers from Sam Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) and Peyton Mortellite (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) to slice the deficit to just one with under :30 seconds to play. Bloomsburg would get a last look to send the contest into overtime after two free throws from Lock Haven's JIhad Barnes, but a steal from Damian Young would secure the Lock Haven victory.

Fofana notched just the second double-double of his young career with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting and 11 rebounds. The freshman has been on a tear recently, averaging 19.6 points per game over his last five. Saxton added 14 points, three rebounds, and three made three's, while Mortellite finished with 14 points and two triples.

The Huskies shot an impressive 28-of-55 (50.9%) from the field and 10-of-19 (52.6%) from deep as a team, but had 16 turnovers. Bloomsburg also dominated the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the Bald Eagles 37-26.

The Bald Eagles were powered by guard Matt Cerruti, who played all 40 minutes and tallied a game-high 30 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Noah Warren added 12 points on four made three-pointers, while Barnes and Jesse McPherson chipped in 10 points apiece.

Bloomsburg was excellent in the first half, leading by as large as eight midway through the period thanks to consecutive baskets from Fofana and Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West). Lock Haven would battle back to tie it at 35-35 early in the second half, but the Huskies would build another five-point lead on a Fofana long-ball. The Bald Eagles would take control from there, building up a lead as large as seven late in the second half.

The Huskies are now winless in their last nine games, but will hope to get back on track when they take on Cheyney at home Wednesday. Bloomsburg will travel to Millersville and East Stroudsburg following the Cheyney contest, before wrapping up the regular season with back-to-back home games against Mansfield and Shippensburg. Tip with the Wolves is slated for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
