BLOOMSBURG, PA - The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team was held scoreless in the second period of a 13-5 loss to visiting Seton Hill Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies led 5-3 at the break, but surrendered 10 second-half goals and were unable to find the back of the net in the loss. Bloomsburg has now dropped two straight games after starting the season 6-1, and falls to 2-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
Trailing 1-0 early in the first half, the Huskies ripped off four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead midway through the first half.
Taylor Skawinski (Ledgewood, N.J./Morris Catholic)Â got the scoring started with a goal at the 17:37 mark, while
Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area),
Allison Bardman (Barto, Pa./Boyertown Area), and
Gabrielle Piccolo (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) all notched goals in the run.Â
Back-to-back goals from Seton Hill's Keagan Pontious trimmed the Bloomsburg lead to just one with under a minute to play in the half, but a goal from
Kirsten Wozniak (Oradell, N.J./River Dell Regional) with just 2.4 seconds remaining gave the Huskies a 5-3 lead after one.
The Bloomsburg scoring would cease there, however, as Seton Hill blanked the Huskies in the second frame and tallied 10 goals to coast to the eight-point victory. Taylor Fox-Trudel had two goals and an assist in the run, while Olivia Caragein had a hat trick in the second half alone.
Griffins goalkeeper Hailey Jacobs was tremendous all afternoon, racking up seven saves in the second half en route to a season-high 14 for the game. Seton Hill out-shot the Huskies 22-15 in the second period, and won the second half draw control battle 8-3.
Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus), who ranked second in the PSAC in save percentage entering Wednesday's game, had just three saves in 47 minutes of action.
Charlotte Williamson (Phoenixville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) finished the game for the Huskies and tallied four saves.
Bloomsburg has been held to single figures scoring in its last two games after eclipsing the double-digit mark in five of the first seven games this season. The Huskies will look to get back on track this Saturday at Edinboro. First draw with the Fighting Scots is set for 2:00 p.m.
