Abby Bergman Pours in Four Goals as Women's Lacrosse Notches 10-7 Win Over Edinboro

HTML BOX SCORE

EDINBORO, PA - Abby Bergman (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) tied a career-high with four goals as the Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team downed Edinboro 10-7 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Saturday afternoon. The Huskies snapped a two-game losing skid and improve to 7-3 overall, 3-2 in the PSAC, with the win. The Fighting Scots fall to 1-4 in the conference and 1-8 overall with the loss.

Bloomsburg wasted little time before seizing control in the first half, as Anna Dempsey (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) broke the seal with a goal at the 18:53 mark, and Kirsten Wozniak (Oradell, N.J./River Dell Regional) tallied a goal just :47 seconds later to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead. Kandyce Graham and Sophie DePalma netted first-half goals for the Fighting Scots to keep pace, but Grace Kelleher (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and Abby Bergman (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) both found the back of the net late in the half to give Bloomsburg a 4-2 lead at the break.

DePalma trimmed the lead to just one with a goal to open the second period, but the Huskies answered with three consecutive goals from Kelsey Kilgallon (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area), and Bergman to take a 7-3 lead with under 18 minutes to play in the half. Bloomsburg would keep the Fighting Scots at arms length for the remainder of the game, trading goals over the next 14 minutes before Bergman capped the impressive day with her fourth score of that game with just 3:57 remaining.

Dempsey poured in two goals and notched a team-high six draw controls in the win, while Kilgallon, Wozniak, Jaskuta, all added a goal. Kelleher, who had missed the previous four games with an injury, returned to score her 18th goal of the season. Bloomsburg netminder Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) recorded eight saves in the complete game victory.

DePalma paced Edinboro with three goals and an assist, while Sidney Dobbins and Anna Leva had a goal and an assist apiece. Candace McDole got the start goal for the Fighting Scots and had 14 saves in the loss.

The Huskies return home this Tuesday, April 2, to host Kutztown. First draw with the Golden Bears is set for 4:00 p.m. from Steph Pettit Stadium.
