BLOOMSBURG, PA -
Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) tied a career-high with 16 saves in goal, but the Golden Rams outscored the Huskies 10-1 in the second half as the Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team fell 17-6 to seventh-ranked West Chester Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies drop to 10-4 overall, and 6-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with the loss, while West Chester improves to 12-2 overall, and 8-1 in the PSAC.
West Chester was red hot out of the gates in the first half, racing out to a 7-1 lead midway through the period thanks to two goals apiece from Maggie Stella and Ryan McKinney, but Bloomsburg closed the first half with four consecutive goals to trim the deficit to just two at the break.
Anna Dempsey (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) got the run started with a goal at the 13:06 mark, and
Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) followed with back-to-back goals over the next 1:41.
Cailyn Gormley (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) capped the run with a scored off of a nice dish from Jaskuta with 4:49 to play in the half.
The teams would trade goals to open the second frame, as Stella scored to extend the West Chester lead to 8-5 and
Abby Bergman (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) found the back of the net to make it 8-6 with 25:10 to play. The Bloomsburg comeback would end there, however, as the Golden Rams ripped off the final nine goals of the game to notch a convincing 17-6 victory.
West Chester out-shot the Huskies 40-13 for the contest, and won the draw control battle 18-7. The Golden Rams also forced 31 Bloomsburg turnovers and scooped 31 ground balls. Stella paced West Chester with four goals and an assist, while Sami Barnett finished with three goals an assist. McKinney, Tatum Altman, and Devon Mela chipped in two goals apiece.
Grace Kelleher (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) had four points on a goal and three assists for Bloomsburg, while Jaskuta finished with two goals and two assists. Kelleher has now scored 26 points in her last four games, and tallied 12 assists in her last three contests.
The Huskies hit the road for a pair of PSAC contests at IUP this Saturday, April 20, and East Stroudsburg next Wednesday, April 24, before returning home on April 27 to host Gannon. First draw with the Crimson Hawks on Saturday is set for 2:00 p.m.
