Kelleher Pours in Six Goals but Women's Lacrosse Falls 15-11 to IUP Saturday

HTML BOX SCORE

INDIANA, PA - Grace Kelleher (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) tallied a team-high seven points on six goals and an assist, and Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) recorded a career-high 19 saves in goal, but the Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team fell 15-11 to 25th-ranked Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Saturday afternoon. The Huskies fall to 10-5 overall, and 6-4 in the PSAC with the loss.

Kelleher was sensational early for Bloomsburg, notching a pair of goals and an assist in the opening 18 minutes of the first half, but two goals apiece from Adriana Greco and Ally Burrows and a score from Leah Hunter would give the Crimson Hawks a 5-4 lead with 11:23 to play in the period. Cailyn Gormley (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) scored at the 7:55 mark to knot it at 5-5, but Burrows and Shannon Hartigan would bookend a Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) goal to give IUP a 7-6 lead at the half.

The Crimson Hawks lead ballooned to four midway through the second stanza thanks to back-to-back goals from Victoria Kerkovich and another goal from Burrows, but Bloomsburg punched back with a pair of goals from Kelleher and Jaskuta to pull within two with 13:03 to play. The rally would end there, however, as the Crimson Hawks would outscore the Huskies 4-2 over the final 11:20 to salt away the home victory.

In addition to Kelleher's seven points, Jaskuta finished with three points on two goals and an assist, while Anna Dempsey (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) had a goal, two assists, and a team-high five draw controls. Burrows tallied a game-high eight points on four goals and four assists for IUP.

Bloomsburg has now dropped two straight contests and fall to seventh in the PSAC standings with two games remaining. The Huskies will travel to East Stroudsburg this Wednesday, April 24, before returning home next Saturday, April 27, to close out the regular season against Gannon. First Draw with the Warriors is set for 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
