GAME 1 HTML BOX | GAME 2 HTML BOX

BLOOMSBURG, PA - Abby Wild (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) tossed a one-hit shutout in game one and Taylor Winkelman (Springfield, Pa/Springfield) went 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored in game two as the Bloomsburg University softball team clinched a berth in next week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament with a pair of wins over Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Saturday. The Huskies plated four runs in the fifth inning en route to an 8-0 six-inning win in game one, and completed the sweep with a 6-1 triumph in game two.

With the wins, the Huskies maintain sole possession of first place in the PSAC Central with a record of 13-5 (28-15 overall) with just two regular season games remaining. The sweep also completes a perfect 14-0 regular season at Jan M. Hutchinson Field for Bloomsburg.

Wild was brilliant in the circle for the Huskies in game one, recording a career-high 11 strikeouts in the six-inning shutout victory. The sophomore walked just four batters, and surrendered just the lone single to IUP's Kassie Kesneck on the very first at-bat of the afternoon.

Leading 1-0 thanks to an Emily Getz (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) RBI triple in the bottom of the second, the Huskies erupted for four runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 5-0 lead after five. Bloomsburg would add another run in the bottom of the sixth when Winkelman scored on a passed ball, and Sammi Starr (Berwick, Pa./21st Century Cyber Charter) would close out the six-inning triumph with a double that scored Erin DelPierre (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Danielle Barnes (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh).

Starr was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored for the Huskies in game one, while fellow frosh DelPierre went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Winkelman and Kelsey Impink (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) added two hits apiece in the win.

Not to be outdone in game two was Bloomsburg hurler Tara Baney (Howard, Pa./Bellefonte), who fanned five and surrendered just one earned run on four hits and a walk to earn her 12th win of the season.

DelPierre broke the seal in game two with an RBI double that scored Winkelman, and Bloomsburg tacked on three more runs in the second to take a 4-0 lead after two. IUP would plate its only run of the day in the third on an RBI double from Rachel Rodriguez, but the Huskies would punch back with two more runs in the sixth to lead 6-1 after six. The Crimson Hawks tried to mount a comeback in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with two outs, but Baney worked out of the jam to preserve the 6-1 win.

Winkelman and Briannah Dobson (York, Pa./Central York) each had two hits to pace the Huskies in game two, while DelPierre added a hit and two runs batted in. Brooklyn Kotula got the nod in the circle for IUP in game two and allowed four earned on eight hits in six innings of work.

The Huskies wrap up the regular season tomorrow afternoon with a pair of games at PSAC Central foe Clarion. First pitch in game one is set for 2:30 p.m.
