BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University field hockey team won its second consecutive game in as many days on Sunday afternoon as it knocked off visiting Frostburg State University, 3-0, at Steph Pettit Stadium. With the victory, the Huskies improved to 2-4 overall while the Bobcats remained winless on the season as they fell to 0-7.
Sophomore
Cheyenne Ott (Mount Bethel, Pa./Bangor) started the scoring for the Huskies when she buried her second goal of the season - second in as many days - with 1:35 left in the first quarter. Ott received a pass up the right wing, deked a Frostburg State defender, and beat Bobcat goalkeeper Sierra Smizer to the far side. Ott also opened the scoring for the Huskies on Saturday afternoon during Bloomsburg's 5-0 victory over Seton Hill.
Just over 90 seconds into the second quarter, senior
Willow Perkins (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) notched her first goal of the season to push the Huskies' advantage to 2-0. Perkins took the ball to the top of the circle and fired a backhand sweep past Smizer for the final score of the opening half. Bloomsburg held a 15-1 advantage in shots over the course of the opening 30 minutes.
Sophomore
Madilyn McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech) capped off the scoring as she extended the Bloomsburg lead to 3-0 at 35:34 when she one-timed a centering pass from sophomore
Foto Tsioles (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and past Smizer for her second goal in as many games.
Frostburg State's best chance to score came late in the first half on a penalty corner but a shot by Emily Hughes was deflected wide of the cage by sophomore defender
Callie Edwards (Swoyersville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West).
The Huskies held a 24-2 shot advantage and had eight penalty corner opportunities to Frostburg State's three. Freshman
Abby Shaffer (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) played the opening 41:17 in goal for the Huskies and was not credited with a save. She improved to 2-3 on the year. Junior
Hannah Barnard (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) finishing out the game and also did not need to make a stop. Smizer played well for the Bobcats as she turned aside nine Huskies' shots in a losing effort.

Bloomsburg opens conference play on Saturday, September 28, when it heads to Shippensburg for a 5:00 p.m. start. The Huskies return home to Steph Pettit Stadium on Wednesday, October 2, against Kutztown at 4:00 p.m.
