Men's Soccer Rallies Late To Stun East Stroudsburg, 2-1, Wednesday Night

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team erased a 1-0 deficit with a pair of goals in a three-minute span during the final six minutes of regulation to earn a stunning come-from-behind 2-1 victory at East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The Huskies have now won two straight to even their record at 3-3 overall and move to 2-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division. The Warriors, meanwhile, dropped to 3-2-2 overall and 0-2 in divisional play.

Trailing 1-0 with 6:09 left in regulation, senior Mike Bazadona III (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) tied the match at 1-1 with his first goal of the season off of an assist from fellow senior Tyler Madeira (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland). The helper was the first of the year for Madeira. Then, three minutes later, senior Evan Novian (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) beat East Stroudsburg goalkeeper Evan Miele with a header off of a centering pass from freshman Stephen Hollis (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) to give the Huskies their first lead of the contest. The Huskies were able to run off the final three minutes to complete the comeback.

Novian's goal was his first of the season and only the second of his collegiate career with his tally coming last season in a 4-2 victory at Mercyhurst University. Wednesday night's marker was Novian's first career game-winner. Meanwhile, the assist by Hollis was his second of the season.

East Stroudsburg scored the first goal of the match in the 57th minute when Marcus Torgersson beat freshman goalkeeper Nolan Michaels (Independence, Ohio/St. Vincent - St. Mary) for his third goal of the season. Oliver Lundberg had the assist.

The victory snapped a four-game losing skid against the Warriors in the all-time series and the two goals were the first by the Huskies against East Stroudsburg since a 3-1 loss at Eiler-Martin Stadium back in 2015.

Michaels improved to 3-2 in his first season with the Huskies as he stopped three shots in the victory. Bloomsburg also had a pair of defensive saves - one credited to junior Kacper Grycel (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) and the other was a team defensive save - midway through the opening half. Miele, meanwhile, fell to 3-2-2 on the year despite a seven-save performance for the Warriors. East Stroudsburg held a slim 13-11 edge in shots and also had a 7-3 margin in corner kick opportunities.

The Huskies return home on Saturday, September 28, to entertain Lock Haven University at Steph Pettit Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
