EDINBORO, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's volleyball team dropped its second consecutive match on Friday afternoon as it fell in straight sets at Edinboro University during the opening weekend of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. The Huskies dropped to 5-9 overall and 0-2 in league play while the Fighting Scots, who won all three sets by identical 25-15 scores, improved to 8-5 overall and 2-0 against conference foes.
Sophomore
Sydney Buell (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) paced Bloomsburg with six kills on the afternoon while sophomore
Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) added five kills and redshirt sophomore
Olivia Pagano (Galeton, Pa./Galeton Area) chipped in with four. Freshman
Julia Burcin (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) led the Huskies with three total blocks - all assisted. Sophomore
Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) had a team-high eight assists to go along with eight digs while freshman
Brooke Kratzer (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) had seven assists on the day.
Junior
Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) and sophomore
Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) tied for the team lead with a dozen digs apiece. Cianciulli now needs six digs to reach 1,000 for her Bloomsburg career but is well over 1,000 for her collegiate career when adding in her stats from her freshman season at Division I La Salle.
Edinboro hit .294 for the match as was led by Bella Burrelli who had 11 kills and 13 digs in the victory.
The Huskies will have one more match in Erie on Saturday afternoon as they take on the Golden Knights of Gannon University. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
