COMPLETE RESULTS
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Redshirt junior
Zach Bitner (Mount Holly Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) took fifth place on Saturday as the Bloomsburg University men's cross country team opened the 2019 season with a third-place finish at the annual Husky Invitational on Upper Campus. The three-team event saw East Stroudsburg win the team score with Mansfield taking second.
Bitner finished the 6K event with a time of 20:08 to earn a top-five finish. The redshirt junior was competing in his first cross country race since 2017 after missing the entire 2018 campaign. Bitner was able to edge out junior teammate
Hunter Jarratt (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) who placed sixth overall after crossing the finish line in a time of 20:11. Sophomore
Kevin Konyar (Winchester, Va./James Wood) was the third Huskies' finisher and placed 16th with a time of 21:02, just ahead of redshirt junior
Declan McDonald (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) who was 17th after completing the race in 21:05. McDonald, like Bitner, missed all of the 2018 cross country season.
Freshman
Wayne Reilly (Valley View, Pa./Tri-Valley) finished strong and rounded out the top five for the Huskies as he crossed the finish line in 21st with a time of 21:47. Junior
Chris McCormick (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill) tied for 24th with a time of 22:16 while junior
Justin Ziegler (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) placed 27th with a time of 22:55.
The Huskies will take next week off and will return to action on Saturday, September 21, when they head to the Lock Haven Invitational at the West Branch Cross Country Course. Action gets underway at 10:30 a.m.
