Women's Tennis Snaps Skid, Rebounds for a 5-2 Win Over West Virginia Wesleyan

Box Score MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team got back to their winning ways as they defeated West Virginia Wesleyan, 5-2, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies improved to 5-2 on the year while the Bobcats dropped to 0-2 on the youngC season.
 
Bloomsburg got on the board quickly needing just the first two matches to win the doubles point. Senior Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) and freshman Luana Bernardi (Aruja, Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Reino) kicked things off with a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Junior Giovanna Bonito (Pindamonhangaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Reino) and senior Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
 
Bernardi picked up the second point of the day for the Huskies as she needed three sets to win at No. 2 singles. Bernardi won the first set 7-5 before dropping the second 6-3. She rebounded for a 10-6 win in the tiebreak. Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) won in straight sets at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0, to give Bloomsburg a 3-2 lead in the match. Junior Isabella Sarquis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Metodo) swept the No. 6 single match 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the fourth point and the match for Bloomsburg.
 
Freshman Sarah Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) took the No. 5 singles match 6-1, 6-1 to complete the 5-2 win for Bloomsburg.
 
The Huskies have the next several weeks off before they open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action against West Chester University on March 22. The Huskies and Golden Rams are set to square off at 11:00 a.m. in Bloomsburg, Pa.
