WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University football nearly spoiled the West Chester University Golden Rams homecoming game as WCU escaped with a narrow 21-20 win, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies fell to 1-4 on the year and 0-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action, while the Golden Rams improved to 4-1 on the year and 2-0 in PSAC play.

Trailing 14-13 going in the fourth quarter, the Huskies put together a 10-play, 75-yard drive that ate up 4:26 on the clock and ended with freshman
John Mack's (Minisink Valley, N.Y./Minisink Valley) first career touchdown to give Bloomsburg its first lead, 20-14. Freshman
Kaleb Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) got the first two carries of the drive and picked up a first down at the Bloomsburg 35-yard line before running for another 11 yards and another Huskies first down to get close midfield. After a six-yard completion on 2
nd and 12 for freshman
David LePoidevin (Middlesex, N.J./Bound Brook) to freshman
Shane Wolford (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove), LePoidevin hit freshman
Malik Langley (Chester, Pa./STEM Academy) for seven yards to get past midfield and the West Chester 43.

Monaco got the ball again on 2
nd and 10 and picked up another 11 yards to keep the Huskies driving before a six-yard Monaco run got the Huskies to the West Chester 26. LePoidevin unloaded down the field and hit Mack for a 26-yard touchdown reception, and sophomore
Torsten Hartmann (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) converted the extra point for the Huskies 20-14 lead.

The Huskies forced a fumble on West Chester's drive as the Golden Rams were on the Bloomsburg 46 yard line. The Rams were punting on 4
th and 7 and lost control of the snap. Sophomore
John Ayres (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) recovered at the West Chester 42 to set up a Bloomsburg drive in good field position.

The Huskies got down to the West Chester 11 on five plays thanks to Monaco's 35 yards on the ground but were unable to get into the end zone, and the Golden Rams took over at their own 20-yard line. The Golden Rams were able to work efficiently down the field and score the go-ahead touchdown with 57 seconds left on the clock.

Bloomsburg worked its way down to the West Chester 30-yard line on their final drive, but a Golden Rams interception sealed the win on homecoming for WCU.

West Chester got the scoring going early with a touchdown on its first possession and added to its lead with a score on its first possession of the second quarter.

Bloomsburg cut the lead to 14-7 with its first drive of the second quarter as LePoidevin hit Wolford with a 12-yard touchdown pass on 3
rd-and-12 Hartmann completed the extra point.

The Huskies got to within one as senior
Chris Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) picked off Shane Dooley on the second play of the Golden Rams' next drive and returned it to the West Chester 30 to set the Huskies up right outside the red zone. The Huskies needed just one play to get to within one as LePoidevin connected with Langley for a 30-yard touchdown.

The Golden Rams drove down the field to the one-yard line on their next possession, but sophomore
Ky Seesholtz (Mifflinville, Pa./Central Columbia) forced a fumble on the potential touchdown carry, and
Nate Capers (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) recovered the ball for the Huskies with just 24 seconds left in the half. Bloomsburg ran out the clock to send the teams into the locker room for halftime.

The Huskies forced another Golden Rams fumble on their opening drive of the third quarter, but Bloomsburg's ensuing drive stalled out on the West Chester four-yard line. The Golden Rams worked their way down the field, but the third quarter wrapped up without any scoring from either side. The Golden Rams finished out their drive to open the fourth but stalled out on the Bloomsburg 25 after failing to convert a 4
th-and-4.

Bloomsburg took over and marched down for its 75-yard, 10-play drive.

LePoidevin was 13-for-20 with three touchdowns and one interception and threw for 222 yards.
Kaleb Monaco (Pocono Pines, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) had his first 100-yard rushing game with 103 yards on 18 carries and a long of 26 yards. Langley finished the day with 101 receiving yards on four catches and a long haul of 43 yards and one score.

Quentin Gaskill (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) led the team with 12 total tackles, while
Jamir Redd (Chester, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) accounted for the Huskies' one sack on the day.

The Huskies finally return home after four of their first five games on the road. Bloomsburg welcomes Kutztown to Danny Hale Field at Redman Stadium for a 2:00 pm PSAC East contest on October 9 for Parents and Family Weekend.
