BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team celebrated its senior day prior to its contest with Lock Haven University, Saturday afternoon. The Bald Eagles spoiled celebrations as they came away with a 3-1 win to improve to 9-2-2 on the year and 7-1-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action. The Huskies dropped to 9-6 for the year and 5-5 in conference play.

Prior to the game, the Huskies honored its 10 graduating student-athletes,

Terrence Edwards (North Ridgeville, Ohio/St. Edward),
Bryce Evans (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland),
Salvatore Ficarotta (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury),
Haley Fiske (Pacifica, Calif./St. Ignatius College Prep),
Kacper Grycel (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus),
Liam Harmon (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area),
Nathan Slotnick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury),
Harry Taylor (Sheffield, England/Chesterfield College), and
Olly Whitham (Clitheroe, Lancashire, England/Settle College).

The Huskies tested the Lock Haven defense first with a pair of shots in the first five minutes of action and sophomore
Sammy Ames (Holly Ridge, N.C./Dixon) put the first shot on goal for Bloomsburg but was turned away by Bald Eagles keeper, Aitor Ruiz De Eguilaz.

After a scoreless first 36 minutes of action, Lock Haven broke the stalemate with the first goal of the game, a head by Samuel Hershey off a corner kick to give LHU a 1-0 lead. The Bald Eagles carried the 1-0 lead into half time after
Patrick Walsh's (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) attempt at a equalizer when just wide with 30 seconds left in the half.

The Bald Eagles added to their lead just over five minutes into action as Beckham Sibiski corralled a ball off the feet of a Bloomsburg defender and shot from about 10-yards out.

Just about eight minutes later, the Huskies cut the lead in half as Whitham put a corner kick right in front to the net and Edwards eventually got a toe on the ball for his second strike of the season.

Lock Haven pushed its lead back to two-goals as Hershey found the back of the net for the second time, this time thanks to a long pass into the box by Tom Pombor.

Grycel attempted the final shot of the game with just over two minutes to play but the Bald Eagles held on for the 3-1 win.

The Huskies held a 16-8 advantage in shots, though Lock Haven led 4-2 in shots on goal. Bloomsburg held the 10-3 advantage in corner kicks as well.

Both Slotnick and Ruiz de Eguilaz finished the day with one save.

The Huskies return to action on Wednesday when they head to the University of the District of Columbia for a 12:00 pm non-conference contest.
