BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University field hockey team dropped its final home game of the 2021 regular season to visiting Mansfield University, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies fell to 7-9 for the year and 1-8 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action while the Mounties improved to 9-8 for the year and 4-5 in conference play.
It took one and half quarters before either team could break the scoreless stalemate and the Mounties were the first to strike. With 7:30 to play in the quarter, Kalin Duke got a helper from Hannah Meyer for the game's first goal. Senior
Kristen Robinson (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) attempted the equalizer with 1:06 to play before half time but was stopped by the MU goalie, August Lewis.
With five minutes to go in a physical third quarter, the Huskies were given a yellow card and the Mounties were awarded a penalty stroke at the 40:40 mark. Kenedy Stroup converted the stroke and give Mansfield a 2-0 lead. Just under two minutes later, Meyer scored for the second time and push the Mounties lead to 3-0 with a quarter to play.
Junior
Carlee Williams's (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) first shot of the fourth quarter went wide and her shot off a penalty corner was blocked as the Mansfield defense kept the Huskies off of the board. Sophomore
