Volleyball Tripped Up at Millersville, Friday Night

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Despite coming back to force a fourth set, the Bloomsburg University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Millersville, Friday evening. With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 10-12 for the year and 5-4 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action while the Marauders improved to 9-17 for the year and 4-6 in conference play.
 
The Marauders won the first two sets, 25-23, 25-21, before Bloomsburg took the third, 25-14. Millersville closed out the win with a 25-13 win in the final set.
 
Senior Sydney Buell (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led the team with 10 kills for the match while senior Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) finished the day with eight blocks. Graduate student Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) posed a team-best three aces and 34 digs while sophomore Aydan Espinal (Rock Hill, S.C./Rock Hill) dished out 23 assists for the Huskies.
 
With her 34 digs today, Cianciulli pushed her BU career total to 1984 digs in just three seasons for the Huskies and is 16 digs shy of 2,000 donning the Maroon and Gold.
 
In Bloomsburg's dominant 25-14 win in the third set, the Huskies had their best hitting performance of the night with 11 kills in 31 attempts and two errors for a .290 hitting percentage. The Huskies also collected 12 kills in the second set.
 
Buell posted four of her 10 kills in set three for the Huskies.
 
Bloomsburg gets back underway tomorrow in a tri-match with West Chester University and D'Youville, The Golden Rams and Huskies face off at 12:00 pm while the Saints and BU will square off at 2:00 pm.
