BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – In a battle of top-10 teams, the ninth-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team fell to #6 East Stroudsburg University, 5-0, Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 7-4, and 1-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play while the Warriors improved to 9-3 for the season and 3-1 in PSAC action.

The Warriors out-shot the Huskies 11-5 for the game while the Huskies held an 8-4 advantage in penalty corners. Junior
Abby Shaffer (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) made three saves in cage for the Huskies while her Warriors counterpart, Amy Supey, made three saves in the win.

Alicia Carr (Shickshinny, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) led the Huskies with a pair of shots while freshman
Bella Culp (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin), senior
Kristen Robinson (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area), and junior
Carlee Williams (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) each had a shot for BU.

The Warriors got on the board quickly with a goal just 5:42 into action from Jady van Gils. ESU pushed its lead to 2-0 with 36 seconds left in the second quarter.
ESU carried the 2-0 lead into halftime after a scoreless second quarter for both teams.

The Warriors scored twice more in the third quarter to extend their lead going into the final 15 minutes of regulation.

Carr got a shot off on the cage just under three minutes into the fourth quarter off a penalty corner for the Huskies, but Supey was there to make her first save of the game. Carr had another shot on goal with five minutes to play but again was turned away from Supey. The Warriors scored their game's final goal with 4:10 to play to extend their lead to 5-0.

After another penalty corner for the Huskies with two and half minutes to play, Culp put a shot on goal for the Huskies, but the final shot was stopped to keep BU off the board and seal the 5-0 win.

The Huskies head to IUP on Saturday for a 1:00 pm PSAC contest against the Crimson Hawks.
