WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East foe, West Chester University, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 6-4 for the year and 3-3 in conference play while the Golden Rams improved to 4-0-1 for the season and 4-0 in PSAC East action.
Bloomsburg got the first shot of the game off as freshman
Anthony Schlee (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) took a shot just 2:43 into action at the bottom right corner of the net but the Golden Rams' goalie made the stop. West Chester answered with a shot of its own just under six minutes later but the Golden Rams' shot found the back of the net to give WCU a 1-0 lead.
West Chester added to its lead 10 minutes later as Doug Goitia found the back of the net for the second time in the half. With just under five minutes to play in the first, Austin Eveland scored for the Golden Rams to give West Chester a 3-0 lead at the break.
The Huskies put the West Chester goalie to test quickly into the second half as Schlee and
Patrick Walsh (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) each put a shot on net in the first eight minutes of action. Both shots were stopped and Daniel Good preserved his shutout. With less than four to play, sophomore
Sammy Ames (Holly Ridge, N.C./Dixon) took the final shot of the game that went out over the top right of the net and the Golden Rams claimed the 3-0 win.
The Golden Rams held a narrow 14-13 advantage in shots while the Huskies held the 9-4 advantage in corner kicks. Senior
Nathan Slotnick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) made five saves in the net for Bloomsburg while Good finsihed with five saves as well.
Schlee led the team with five shots while Walsh and senior
Kacper Grycel (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) each took two.
The Huskies return to Steph Pettit Stadium on Saturday as they host Millersville University in a 4:30 pm PSAC East contest.
