Philadelphia, Pa- The women's basketball team suffered a tough loss against the Jefferson Rams, Saturday evening. The Huskies were tied, 59-59, at the buzzer and went into overtime where Jefferson pulled ahead and the game ended, 66-60. With the loss, the Huskies drop to a 4-4 overall record and 2-0 for the conference and the Rams advance to an 8-2 overall and a 2-0 CACC record.

The Huskies three-game winning streak came to an end Saturday evening as they fell to Jefferson University. The Huskies and Rams went back and forth for the first period and ended at a tied score of 14-14. The Huskies came back in the second period and found themselves ahead by 4 points as they headed into the second quarter and led the game 25-19.

Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) took the Huskies to an even larger lead as she scored in the first 14 seconds of play and the Huskies led, 31-25. Graduate Student
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and sophomore
Megan Fisher (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) kept the Huskies ahead after two layup shots less than a minute a part. Saxton separated the Huskies from the Rams by 4 points in the final 2 minutes of play after hitting a three-pointer shot and taking the score to 49-45. Jefferson responded with a shot in the final 18 seconds of play that ended the period and the Huskies settled for a 2-point lead going into the last period. Katelin Starr (Berwick, PA/Berwick) to give the Huskies a 51-49 lead. The Rams tied the game in the last second of regulation play from a layup shot by Jefferson and took the game into overtime, tied 59-59.

Heading into overtime the Huskies, Starr got the only shot off in the first 10 seconds of play, but the Huskies were not able to get another shot and settled for the 66-60 loss over CACC Jefferson University.

Bloomsburg was led by Saxton as she posted 17 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Corridoni finished with 10 points total along with seven rebounds and one assist. Fisher was right there in the action with 9 points total for the Huskies as well as 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Starr was the only Husky to put points on the board in overtime and ended the game with 7 points total for the Huskies. Â

As a team, the Huskies shot 36.2% (25-for-69) from the floor and were 6-for-26 from three-point range. The Huskies went 4-for-10 from the free throw line to give them an average of 40.0% for the game. Cassie Murphy led the Rams with 28 points total and three rebounds while Morgan Robinson added in seven points and seven rebounds.

 The Huskies get back on the road Thursday evening as they take on PSAC rival, the  Edinboro Fighting Scots for a 5:30 pm conference game at Edinboro University
