EDINBORO, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team dropped the opening game of the Huskies trip out west as they fell to Edinboro University, 72-60, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover action. The Huskies fell to 4-5 on the year and 2-1 in conference action, while the Fighting Scots improved to 4-2 and 2-0 in PSAC play.

The Huskies were led by graduate students
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) and
Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York), who had a pair of double-doubles. Corridoni finished the day with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Saxton added 15 and 11 rebounds. Saxton added three assists as well. Corridoni's double-double is her fourth of the season. Freshman
Samantha Brusha (Abington, PA/Abington) finished the day with 12 points as she went 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.

As a team, the Huskies shot 37.5% from the floor (21-for-56) and were 6-for-16 (37.5%) from the three-point range.

Edinboro was led by Haley Sims with a game-high 28 points and had four players reach double figures. As a team, the Fighting Scots shot 47.2% from the floor (25-for-53), including a 7-for-13 fourth quarter to carry Edinboro to the victory. The Fighting Scots took advantage of the Huskies' 24 turnovers, converting them into 24 points.

Trailing by five at halftime, 37-32, the Huskies chipped away at the lead to open the third. Corridoni hit a jumper just two and half minutes into action to cut the lead to three, 37-34, but the Fighting Scots answered on their next possession to push the lead back to five, 39-34, with 6:59 to play. On their next trip down the floor, Corridoni pulled the Huskies to within two, 39-37, with a three at 6:30. After an almost two-minute scoreless stretch, Saxton tied the game at 39-39 with a layup after grabbing her rebound.

Sims pushed the lead back to two, 41-39, with a pair of free throws on the next Fighting Scots possession, and Edinboro maintained its advantage for the rest of the contest.

Bloomsburg trimmed the advantage to three, 58-55, with 5:00 to play thanks to a pair of free throws from Saxton, but that would prove to be as close as the Huskies got for the rest of the game. Edinboro eventually took a 14 point lead, its highest game, 72-58, with 1:31 to play, but
Lauren Kirsch (Palmyra, PA/Lower Dauphin) cut the lead to 12, 72-60, with a jumper at 1:21.

The Huskies look to rebound as they continue their western road trip on Saturday at Mercyhurst University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
