ERIE, Pa. – A third-quarter comeback leads to overtime for the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team but the Mercyhurst Lakers out-lasted Bloomsburg in the extra period to win 66-57, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies fell to 4-6 for the year and 2-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action while the Lakers improved to 4-6 and 1-2 in conference play.

Trailing by four after halftime,
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) hit a jumper on Bloomsburg's first possession of the second half and
Emma Gochnauer (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) answered a Lakers' three on the other side of the court with one of her own to get the Huskies to within two, 32-30.
Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) tied the game at 32-32 with 8:15 to play before Corridoni gave the Huskies their first lead of the second half with a pair of free throws, 34-32, with 7:26 to play.

The Huskies eventually pushed their lead to six, 41-35, thanks to a layup by Saxton at the 4:52 mark and a three-pointer from
Megan Fisher (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) with 3:28 to play pushed the Huskies lead to seven, 44-37. With 1:58 to play in the fourth, Saxton hit the backend of a trip to the free throw line to extend the Huskies' lead to eight, 45-37, but Emily Shopene made a jumper in the paint for the last bucket of the quarter to cut the lead to six, 45-39, with 10 minutes to play in regulation.

Bloomsburg maintained its lead for the first half of the final quarter but with 4:36 to play, Grace Centrulla hit a jumper to cut the lead to two, 50-48, and Paige Woodford tied the game at 50-50 for the Lakers at the 3:16 mark. Corridoni pushed the lead back to two, 52-50 with 1:30 to play but a layup from Shopene for Mercyhurst tied the game at 52-52 with 1:13 to play. Saxton had a chance at the buzzer but couldn't get her jumper to fall and the game went into ovetime.

The Lakers led from the onset of the extra period, though Bloomsburg tied the game once at the 4:08 mark thanks to a jumper by Saxton. Bloomsburg was just 2-for-11 in the overtime period while the Lakers were 4-for-6 and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line to outscore Bloomsburg 14-5 in the extra time and take the 66-57 win.

Bloomsburg was led by Saxton with 19 point and seven rebounds while Corridoni finished the game with 15 points and five boards. Gochnauer posted 10 points and seven rebounds for the Huskies.

As a team, Bloomsburg shot 21-for-67 (31.3%) from the floor and were 3-for-17 from three-point range. The Huskies were 12-for-16 from the free throw line.

Mercyhurst won the rebounding battle 45-39 and shot 25-for-55 (45.5%) from the floor. The Lakers were just 3-for-11 from three-point range and 13-for-19 from the free throw line.

Centrulla led Mercyhurst with 21 points and 15 rebounds while Jayde Boyd chipped in 15 points and Shopene finished the day with 14.
The Huskies get right back on the court today as they wrap up their PSAC West road trip at Gannon for a 1:00 pm tip off.
