BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team honored its seven graduating student-athletes Saturday prior to the start of the season-opening contest against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent, #10 East Stroudsburg. The Warriors walked away with the victory, however, defeating Bloomsburg 14-5. The Huskies open the year and PSAC action 0-1 while the Warriors improve to 2-0 and 1-0 in the conference play.

Abby Bergman (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley),
Anna Dempsey (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts),
Tiffany Diachynsky (Barto, Pa./Boyertown Area),
Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus),
Faith Duffy (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), and
Lana Paulo (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) were honored for their commitment to the team for the last four-plus seasons. The group of seven led the Huskies to 34 wins over the last four seasons.

Dempsey got the scoring going early in the contest for the Huskies with her first of five goals in the game. Just under two minutes into action, Dempsey was fouled in front of the net and was awarded a free position shot. The senior took advantage of the early chance and gave Bloomsburg a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors rattled off nine-straight goals, however, to jump out to a 9-1 lead with less than 10 minutes to play in the first half.

With 5:35 to play, Dempsey and Emily Mitarotonda of ESU traded goals in a 30-secod span to close out the scoring in the first half as the Warriors led 10-2 at the break.
Coming out of halftime, Bailey McMaster extended ESU's lead with a free-position goal just five minutes into action. Dempsey answered, but this time thanks to a great pass in front of the net by junior
Kelsey Kilgallon (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts). The Warriors used another long run of goals, this time four-straight to extend their lead to 14-4 with 7:47 to play. Demspey tied her career-best in goals with her fifth of the day with 3:56 to play as she was awarded another free position shot.

Dempsey led the team with five goals, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers and four draw controls, while junior
Abby Kalish (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) added three shots and three draw controls. DiPasquale took the loss for Bloomsburg as she made nine saves in net for Bloomsburg while her ESU counterpart, Tatyana Petteway made 15 saves between the pipes.

The Huskies hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Shepherd for a 4:00 pm game on Wednesday, March 17.
