BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Bloomsburg University field hockey team has been recognized for its work in the classroom as it has been honored with a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Team Award as announced by the organization on Monday.
The Huskies were one of 33 institutions in the country earning the National Academic Team Award, which recognizes programs that achieved a minimum team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, or better, during the fall semester of the 2020-21 academic year. It marks the 14th consecutive year, and 16th time since 2003 - the first year the award was given - that the Bloomsburg field hockey program has received the distinction.
Of the 33 schools earning the distinction, 11 came from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
Earlier this month, 21 student-athletes were named to the
NFHCA National Academic Squad for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher through the fall semester of the 2020-21 academic year. Four of those student-athletes earned
National Scholars of Distinction accolades from the organization for having achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.90 through the same time frame.
