BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over visiting Kutztown University at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies improved to 2-1 overall while the Golden Bears dropped to 2-3 on the season.
The Huskies started off on the right foot by grabbing the doubles point after sweeping all three doubles matches. Seniors

Giovanna Bonito (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Reino) were the first to score as they posted a 6-0 blanking of Kutztown's duo of Claudia Makarski and Catherine Maher at #1. Sophomore

Isabella Sarquis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Metodo) for a 6-1 win at #2 to secure the doubles point. Freshman
Anna Chikhalenko (Birmingham, Mich./Wylie F. Groves) and senior
Devon DiCampli (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 victory at #3.
However, the Golden Bears grabbed the first two singles points to take a 2-1 lead in the team scoring before the Huskies won the final four singles matches of the afternoon to come away with the victory.
Sarah Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) collected Bloomsburg's first singles win of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jess Marks at #4 which tied the match at 2-2. Capoferri improved to 2-1 on the season. Older sister, Taylor, followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Makarski at #1 to give the Huskies a lead they would not relinquish. She remained perfect in singles on the season as she improved to 3-0.
DiCampli then secured the victory for the Huskies by earning a 6-4, 6-4 win over Elyssa Tomczyk at #6 to give Bloomsburg its match-clinching fourth point of the afternoon. It was DiCampli's first singles win of the year.
Bonito finished off the afternoon with a hard-fought three-set win over Amanda Grebosky at #2 for her first singles win of the season. Bonito won the first set, 6-4, before dropping the second set, 7-6. The senior battled to pick up the win in the third set as she eventually earned an 11-9 win in the tiebreaker to end the day.
The Huskies return home on Wednesday, April 14, when they entertain the Golden Rams of West Chester University at the Burt Reese Tennis Center. Start time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
