SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team swept Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent, Shepherd University, 7-0, Friday afternoon for its fourth-straight win. With the win, the Huskies improved to 4-2 on the year and in conference play while the Rams dropped to 0-6 for the season and 0-4 in PSAC action. 

Seniors Nagid Walle (Willemstad, Curacao/Saint Andrew's (Fla.)) and Robin Luetzig (Hadamar, Germany/Furst Johann Ludwig Schule) opened the match with a dominant 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles while junior Oliver Wiesemann (Jena, Germany/Deutsche Schule Málaga (Spain)) and sophomore Scott Redmond (Paget, Bermuda/Warwick Academy) followed suit with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Victor Martinez (Barcelona, Spain/Padre Damian Sagrados Corazones) and senior Raul Rodriguez (Naples, Fla./Marco Island Academy) clinched the doubles point for BU with a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles. 

"There were super windy conditions today, forcing players to change up their strategy and figure out what was going to work," remarked head coach Rebecca Helt following the match. "It was great to see the depth on both teams get the chance to step up and compete."

Luetzig was the first off of the court in singles action as he won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. He was followed closesly by Wiesemann who closed out No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win. 

Walle clinched the win for Bloomsburg as he downed his opponent 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. 

Martinez defeated his No. 4 singles opponent in straight-sets, 6-0, 6-2, and Redmond won easily at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Rodriguez closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. 

The Huskies return home on Monday, April 19 to take a short break from PSAC action when they host Jefferson University for a 2:00 pm match at Burt Reese Tennis Center.
