AUSTIN, Texas - Senior midfielder Carter Luckenbaugh (York, Pa./Central York) of the Bloomsburg University men's soccer team has been named to the 2020-21 Academic All-America® First Team as announced, and selected, by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It marks the first time in Luckenbaugh's career that he has earned Academic All-American® status and he is the first men's soccer student-athlete at Bloomsburg to earn Academic All-America® honors since Josh Smith earned First Team accolades - for the second straight year - in 2016.

Based on the absence of most fall sports competition, the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Committee revised some rules and procedures for nominating student-athletes this season. Due to the low percentage of games completed this season, the nominees were selected based on career statistics and achievements.

Luckenbaugh has had a sensational career on the pitch for the Huskies as he has totaled eight goals and 22 assists for 38 points through his first three seasons. He was an All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East First Team selection in 2019 and later captured All-Atlantic Region Third Team accolades from United Soccer Coaches. That season, Luckenbaugh was also a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region First Team honoree and was selected to the PSAC Fall Top 10 list for his performance both on the field and in the classroom.

He posted career-highs in goals (6) and points (16) in 2019 and scored a pair of game-winning goals, lifting the Huskies to wins over Shepherd on September 21 and West Chester on October 9.

Luckenbaugh, who has started every game in his career, led the PSAC in assists with 11 as a freshman in 2017. His 11 helpers marked the third-highest single-season assist total in program history. He went on to score two goals and seven assists for 11 points as a sophomore, ranking fourth in the league in helpers in 2018.

In the classroom, Luckenbaugh has a cumulative grade point average of 3.98 while majoring in supply chain management and information technology management. He has been a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and has twice been named a Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA) Scholar-Athlete.

Last month, Luckenbaugh joined junior midfielder Bryce Evans (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) as CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team® selections.
