CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University volleyball team got their Vulcan Invitational weekend underway with a back to back win against West Liberty University (5-3) and California University, Pa (4-3).
The tournament started off for the Huskies with a 3-0 win against West Liberty University. All three sets went down to the wire with a- 25-22, 26-24, 25-22- for the Huskies to secure the win.
Bloomsburg Senior,
Sydney Buell (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led the team with 10 kills and 2 aces along with senior,
Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) with 10 kills and 4 blocks. Senior,
Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) checked off all the boxes with 6 kills, 4 aces, and 9 digs. Grad Student,
Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) led the team in digs with 19 total and senior,
Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) led the Huskies in assists, with 16 total.
The Huskies continued the moment with a 3-0 win against California University (Pa). The Huskies swept all three sets with a final score of - 25-18, 25-18, 25-15 to secure the win. The Huskies controlled the place of the game with a total of 33 kills, 31 assists, 8 aces and 10 blocks.
The Bloomsburg Huskies will close out the Vulcan Invitational on Saturday, September 11, with a pair of matches. The Huskies will take on PSAC Conference team, Edinboro University at 12:00 PM and Frostburg State University at 4:00 PM.
The Bloomsburg Huskies improve their record to 3-2 as they continue to finish out the tournament.
