Bloomsburg Men's Soccer continues their winning streak with a win over Shepherd University

Shepherd, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's soccer continued its winning streak they defeated Shepherd University, 1-0, Saturday. With the win, the Huskies improved to 6-0 for the year and 2-0 in conference play while the Rams dropped to 1-4 for the year and 0-1 in the Conference. 
 
Bloomsburg and Shepherd had a hard-fought game that ended regulation time in a 0-0 tie. Sophomore Mark Lee (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) got his first goal of the season and the only goal of the game in the 2nd overtime in the 105th minute to win the game for the Huskies. 
 
A corner kick by junior Stephen Hollis (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) got the Huskies rolling in the first minute of the game, but unfortunately was unable to be scored on. Bloomsburg Senior, Liam Harmon (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) had the first shot of the game just 3 minutes into the first period but was stopped by Shepherd goalie, Billy Wood. The Huskies followed up just shortly after with a header attempt on goal by Hollis but was blocked. Bloomsburg ended the first period with 2 shot attempts on goal, while Shepherd ended the first period with 0 shots. 
 
The Huskies started off the second period strong with a shot by Harmon on goal that was blocked. The Rams were able to get off 2 shots in the second period but Huskies goalie, graduate student Nathan Slotnick (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) had his one and only save to keep the Huskies in the game. 
 
As regulation time closed out, the Huskies and the Rams went the length of double overtime until the game winning shot by Lee. The Rams were able to get 3 shots off in the 1st overtime, but none were able to find the net. The Huskies had 0 shot attempts in the 1st overtime but was able to come back with 2 shot attempts with 1 goal in the second. 

The Huskies held an advantage in shots 6-5 and corner kicks 10-2. Shepherd goalkeeper, Wood, and Bloomsburg goalkeeper, Slotnick, each had 1 save throughout the entirety of the game. 

 The Huskies are looking to continue their winning streak on their home field on Wednesday, September 22nd as they face East Stroudsburg University at Steph Pettit Stadium. The opening kick is set for 4:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to read Bloomsburg's spectator policy prior to arrival to campus.
