Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer shut out 4-0 over Shepherd

Shepherd, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's soccer swept the win 4-0 against Shepherd University, Saturday. With the win, the Huskies improved to 3-2-1, while the Rams drop to 1-3-0 for the year. 
 
Bloomsburg got their first goal just 4 minutes into the first period by junior Campbell Power (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area)s. The Huskies kept the momentum going as graduate student Natalie Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding) found the net just 3 minutes after Powers goal to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead. Bloomsburg had four more shots in the first period, but three were saved by Shepherd goalie Lulu Fricks. 
 
Shepherd substituted their goalie from Fricks to Faith Geraci at the start of the second period. 
 
Shepherd got the ball rolling in the second half with a shot on Bloomsburg, but the Huskies goalie Alexa Ryan (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) was able to make the save. Bloomsburg retaliated quickly as senior Paige Harris (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) was able to get a shot just 5 minutes after Shepherd shot attempt but was shot high. Geraci had her first save as Powers took a shot on goal just seconds after Harris. Harris was able to find the net in the 56th minute of the game to give the Huskies a 3-0 lead with the assist coming from junior Abby Groff (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) and senior Kate Schlotter (Fountainville, Pa./Central Bucks East) for her third goal of the season. Red shirt junior Keira Flanagan (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) finished the shut out with the last goal of the game resulting from a header with the assist by Holmes.  
 
Powers led the Huskies with 3 shots total and 1 goal along with Harris with 2 shots and 1 goal. The Huskies controlled the game with shots 12-2 and corner kicks 3-0. 
 
Shepherd goalkeeper, Fricks played the first period and had three saves total. After substitution, Geraci closed the game with 2 saves. Bloomsburg goalkeeper, Ryan needed just two saves for the shutout.  

 The Huskies are back on their home field on Wednesday, Septemeber 22nd as they face East Stroudsburg University at Steph Pettit Stadium. The opening kick is set for 7:00 PM. Fans are encouraged to read Bloomsburg's spectator policy prior to arrival to campus.
