BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Monday evening, the Huskies led wire-to-wire in the Bloomsburg University women's basketball 73-62 win over Clarion University. With the win, Bloomsburg extended its winning streak to eight and improved to 12-7 on the year and 10-3 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action, while the Golden Eagles fell to 3-14 and 2-10 in conference play.

Graduate student Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) led all players with a season-high 24 points as she went 8-for-14 from the floor and was 1-for-1 from beyond the arc. Saxton was 7-for-9 from the free-throw line while dishing out five assists and pulling down six rebounds. Saxton led the team with four steals as well. Graduate student Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) led the team with seven rebounds and three blocks to go with her six points. Sophomore Megan Fisher (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) posted 11 points, while classmate Emma Gochnauer (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) finished with 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers for BU.

As a team, the Huskies shot 41.3% from the floor (26-for-63) and were 14-for-17 (82.4%) from the free-throw line. The Huskies out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 40-38. Bloomsburg forced seven of Clarion's 18 turnovers and scored 17 points off the Golden Eagles' miscues.

The Golden Eagles shot 40.0% (26-for-65) from the floor and were 5-for-17 (29.4%) from beyond the arc. Clarion finished the day 5-for-10 (50%) from the free-throw line.

Kirby hit the first basket of the game, 2:18, into action to give Clarion an early 2-0 lead. Saxton answered with a driving layup in the next Huskies' possession and drew a foul as she went to the basket. Saxton hit her free throw to complete the traditional three-point play and give Bloomsburg a 3-2 lead. Kirby finished a layup at the other end of the court to provide Clarion its final lead of the game, 4-3, with 7:18 to play in the first. The two teams traded scoreless possessions until Saxton grabbed a rebound off a missed three-pointer and dished it out to Fisher, who hit a three to give Bloomsburg a 6-4 lead at the 6:00 mark.

Fisher's three kicked off a 10-0 run that took just over three minutes of action and gave the Huskies a 10-point lead, 14-4, with 2:52 to play. The Golden Eagles hung around and used a 10-6 run to close the quarter down just six, 20-14.

Corridoni drained a three in the final seconds of the Huskies' shot clock to open the second quarter and gave Bloomsburg a 23-14 lead.
