#23 Women's Soccer Clinches Postseason Berth with 0-0 Tie at Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The #23 Bloomsburg University women's soccer team pushed its unbeaten streak to five as the Huskies tied with the Lock Haven Bald Eagles, 0-0, Wednesday afternoon. The tie clinches a postseason appearance for the Huskies. It's the first tie of the season for the Huskies as they move to 12-3-1 on the year and 10-3-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action. Lock Haven moves to 3-8-4 on the year and 1-8-4 in conference action.

The Huskies out-shot Lock Haven 13-4 for the game, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. Bloomsburg held a 10-1 shot advantage in the first half and put five shots on net but could not capitalize.

Bloomsburg came out shooting in the first half as sophomore Gina Sexton (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) put an attempt on net just 1:06 into the game but was turned away by the LHU goalie, Megan Miller.

Junior Amanda Stoll (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and graduate student Nicole Varano (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) each got a shot off before the 10-minute mark, but the Huskies couldn't find the back of the net. With 15 minutes to play in the half, the Bald Eagles took their first and only shot of the half, but it went out to the left of the net. The two teams took the scoreless tie into halftime.

Sophomore Ellie Rowe (Hetlerville, Pa./Central Columbia) took the first shot of the second half for either team in the 58th minute and senior keeper Riley Spingler (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) made a pair of saves in the game's waning minutes to keep it scoreless as the two teams settled for the 0-0 draw.

Spingler made three saves in the contest, while Miller made six stops for Lock Haven. Varano led the team with three shots.

The Huskies return to action next Wednesday as they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 7:00 p.m. PSAC East matchup as the final seeding for the 2022 PSAC Tournament are still to be determinied.
